Week 5 blog post

Empirical research was something new to me. It gets into the scientific aspects by doing studies and research on a certain subject. In regards to my research subject of how to start a successful business, I found a lot of research on what type of people are more prone to be successful or fail at it.

I also discovered that there are specific databases for different subjects. For example for the business field, the Emerald Journals, the Business Source Premier, and the Business Abstracts with full text. Using these will help narrow your searches down to the specific type of database to use.

The article I found using the Business Source Premier in the Leatherby Library, help me discover a new source for my topic. I can branch off and talk about what characteristics that make up a person can help when starting a new business and keep it running.

My research skills are becoming more useful in finding specific data on my subject. Empirical researching is yet another tool to get a wide variety of useful data.
