Before this week's assignment, I was not really sure about what topic I wanted to cover. I originally chose a topic about starting a business. Being that that is a pretty general subject, I was not sure how to go about pinpointing a particular area. I am still not 100% sure what I will choose to write about but after doing some research, I can narrow it down a little.
In doing my research this week, I discovered a little more about searching the web for resources. Using the "CRAAP" system, currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose, I found I could look at a source and see if it is useful or not. I believed that using Google would result in finding information that was not very useful. I did find, however, a website that I could use and had a lot of information. I did not realize that using .gov or .edu would bring better results.
The website I found was SBA.gov, owned by the U.S. Small Business Administration. What better source to research my topic on. In the next week I will be digging deep in this website and also looking for better articles on the Brandman University Library. I did not have much luck in that area but I know there is information in that area. I also realized that when looking at these articles on the library web site, that the title are not always helpful. I soon realized that reading the abstract was a short cut to finding out more about the article before downloading it.
